What are Robocalls?

A robocall is a phone call that uses a computerized auto-dialer to deliver a prerecorded message, as if from a robot. These prerecorded messages can have various goals to provide unnecessary information, to advertise a product, or in the worst-case scenario, try to scam consumers.

Most Common Robocall Scams

The most common robocall scams attempt to play to consumer concerns about security, loans, travel, charity, or others. Scammers are getting more and more creative, and general precaution is strongly recommended when accepting a call from almost any number – even if it looks familiar. Impostor scams will impersonate friends, family, banks, government agencies, and more.

Robocall Prevention FCC Mandates carriers to offer call-authentication technology to everyone at no additional charge. An opt-in or opt-out robocall blocking provided at no extra charge to consumers.
