What is the Federal Universal Service Fund (FUSC) charge on my bill?

Funds are utilized for the provisioning of affordable (Universal Service) to all customers across the country regardless of where they live – providing financial support to the following programs:

  • Connect America Fund (formerly high cost fund) helps ensure rural areas have comparable services and rates as the more urban areas

  • Lifeline – helps low income and tribal land residents

  • Helps schools and libraries

  • Rural Health Care

How is the fee calculated?

The percentage is set by the FCC on a quarterly basis and can be assessed on Interstate subscriber lines as well as Special Access and International revenues.
