Why are my Internet speed tests slower when I am on Wi-Fi?

Your testing speeds over Wi-Fi are affected by many things, including:

  • The type and age of the router you are using.
  • An older router may not support the speed you subscribe to.
  • Whether you have the latest firmware (software) updated on your router. This is important for both performance and security.
  • The maximum speed the device you are using will support.
  • A virus or malware on your device.
  • Other things running on your device when you are running the speed test.
  • The distance from the wireless signal and if you have a full signal.

All these things may cause slower speed tests results over Wi-Fi.
