Why does my Wi-Fi seem to slow down in the evenings?

  • Turn off anything that connects to the internet that you are not using (washer/dryer, tablets, printers, older phones, etc..)
  • Consider hardwiring the device you’re using (ex: the TV you’re streaming on, the laptop you’re working from, etc.) – since network congestion can also occur when too much web traffic is on your home network. BTC provides ethernet cables upon request. You are welcome to come into the Memorial office and pick one up M-F, from 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
  • Consider upgrading your older devices (over 3-5 years old) as they often don’t support faster internet speeds or the latest Wi-Fi standard, both of which can contribute to congestion.
  • The number of devices connected to your home network, and the amount of internet bandwidth used simultaneously can cause a slowdown in internet speeds.
